LIBERIA:  CDC GOVT PASSES MILLENNIUM CHALLENGE CORPORATION SCORECARD

Date:

MONROVIA – After five years of repeated failures, the administration of President George Weah has finally achieved a passing score on the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) scorecard. This accomplishment is significant for the Weah administration as they achieved a pass in 14 out of 20 indicators, including the challenging “Political Rights or Civil Liberties” and “Control of Corruption” indicators.

To be considered for compact funding, a country must pass at least 10 of the 20 indicators, including the “hard hurdles.”

However, passing the scorecard does not guarantee funding, as only a few countries will be selected for compact funding after the MCC’s Board of Directors meeting in December, out of 25 countries.
