BE APPRECIATIVE, BUT DON’T SETTLE FOR PEANUTS AND FALL FOR THE LIES OF MOST LIBERIAN POLITICIANS – MIAMEN WRITES

The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) executive director, Mr. Anderson Miamen, says a good number of Liberian Politicians will make Liberians believe that the country is so difficult to fix/develop. And that it is so difficult to fix the roads, transform the lives of many, as well as improve health, education, and other critical sectors.

Mr. Miamen, a tough-talking accountability and human rights advocate who doesn’t mince his words expressed his opinion about Liberian politicians today on his Facebook page. He said: While we do not have all of the needed resources nor do we expect magical actions that will transform Liberia to America overnight, we could have done far better with available resources.

Gross mismanagement has been our biggest problem and enemy. For example, the millions used by our leaders to build private mansions and make sometimes useless and cost-intensive trips abroad could help to provide a good number of affordable housing units for citizens and make public transportation more pleasing, effective and refreshing. The overnight riches some public officials acquire can significantly transform an entire town, clan, chiefdom, or even district, Miamen said.

He continued: Fellow Liberians, desire and demand the very best from your leaders, for that is what you deserve, given the enormous assets and resources the Country has. Don’t be content with people using your own resources to present themselves as humanitarians. Be appreciative, but don’t settle for peanuts or handouts in terms of development.

Be appreciative, but don’t fall for their lies. If it is that easy to transform their own lives, it should be easy to better the conditions of the rest of the population, Miamen concluded.
