MONROVIA – A Liberian evangelist with the Church of Jerusalem International, Anthony Gray, Jr., has rebuked the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), for the rather damaging documentary recently released by the BBC, on some mindboggling accounts ranging from horrific human rights abuses to unbiblical practices the deceased Nigerian televangelist, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, allegedly committed while he lived and pastored the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
In a three-part series, the BBC features in its Eye documentary up to 30 individuals it calls witnesses, who testified to allegations of TB Joshua committing gruesome and traumatizing acts such as rape, physical abuse, fake miracles, and the enslavement of both Africans and Westerners behind the colossal walls of his charismatic mega-church (SCOAN), located in Lagos, Nigeria.
But Evangelist Gray, Jr. has slammed the BBC over what he calls the practice of unprofessional journalism regarding its recently released documentary on what is believed to be an expose of the secret life of the deceased Prophet TB Joshua.
Gray, Jr. chided the BBC for failing to produce a single medical report in the documentary in which a barrage of sexual assault allegations were made against the Nigerian prophet.
He stated that other than just mere allegations, the BBC documentary produces no substantive evidence against the late Prophet TB Joshua.
“No medical report proving abortions took place. No interview involving the doctor who conducted the abortions,” Gray, Jr. emphasized.
He averred that in its documentary, the BBC only concentrated on those he referred to as enemies of TB Joshua – “What do you expect?” He quipped.
He queried the BBC over its timing for the publication of the documentary, wondering why the British media outlet had to wait until TB Joshua died before releasing such character-assassinating accounts of his life.
Gray, Jr. attributed the BBC’s timing for the release of the documentary to cowardice and the British news network’s fear of the legal implications of defamation.
“TB Joshua was involved in humanitarian works – none was mentioned,” Gray, Jr. told Smart News Liberia Thursday.
He maintains that the Eye documentary is a biased and unprofessional piece of journalism, urging the BBC to do better next time.
To those believing the graphic tales contained in the BBC documentary on the ground that the late Prophet TB Joshua’s daughter testified against her father, Gray, Jr. drew their attention to the biblical warning in the Bible book of Micah Chapter 7 verse 6.
Micah 7:6 (KJV) “For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.”
“If you think Prophet T.B Joshua is not a Man of God you don’t know Jesus,” Gray, Jr. noted.
