TRAGIC ABANDONED GOLD MINE INCIDENT LEAVES SEVERAL DEAD IN LIBERIA

In an unfortunate incident, several people are feared dead at an abandoned gold mine in Rivercess County, Liberia. The Mines Minister, Wilmot Paye, confirmed that at least seven individuals lost their lives in the incident. However, an exact death toll can only be determined once a team reaches the site. The mines had been abandoned for several months, and the authorities are currently unaware of the company that operated the site.

Minister Paye mentioned that if they gather information about the company, appropriate legal action will be taken. The details regarding the nature of the accident were not provided.

In a separate incident that occurred in December 2023, a tragic accident took place in Totota, central Liberia. A gasoline tanker crashed and burst into flames, resulting in the loss of over 40 lives. The Chief Medical Officer of the nation shared this information with local media. The incident took place approximately 130 kilometers (80 miles) from the capital city, Monrovia, on a route in Totota.
