MOE SUSPENDS CLASSES FOR BY-ELECTION IN NIMBA AND GRAND GEDEH COUNTIES

Date:

MONROVIA – In anticipation of the upcoming By-election scheduled for April 23, 2024, the Ministry of Education has issued a directive to suspend classes in all public, private, and faith-based schools located in Nimba County and District number one of Grand Gedeh County.

The decision to suspend academic activities aims to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the electoral process, free from any interruptions. This temporary suspension of classes will take effect immediately on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. It is imperative that all schools within the specified areas comply with this directive.

Regular academic activities are expected to resume on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, following the By-election.

The Ministry of Education encourages all eligible voters in Nimba and District number one of Grand Gedeh County to exercise their constitutional right to vote during the upcoming By-election. The participation of every citizen is crucial in shaping the future of our society and strengthening our democratic process.

By suspending classes for the By-election, the Ministry of Education underscores the importance of civic engagement and upholding democratic values. It is a reminder of the role that education plays not only in imparting knowledge but also in fostering responsible citizenship.

The Ministry appreciates the understanding and cooperation of school administrators, teachers, parents, and students during this period. Together, we can ensure a successful and peaceful By-election that reflects the will of the people and strengthens our democratic institutions.
