NIPPY KARPEH ARRESTED FOR BLACKMAILING WOMEN WITH INTIMATE PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police says Nippy Karpeh, widely known by his social media name “Raso,” has been sent to court following an extensive investigation by the LNP. Raso, one of Liberia’s prominent social media influencers, was apprehended after several individuals lodged complaints accusing him of sharing obscene materials about them on social media platforms.

In a press conference today, the LNP Public Affairs department announced the arrest of Karpeh for using social media to blackmail and harass women. The suspect was apprehended after a thorough investigation revealed his involvement in posting explicit photos and videos of two female victims online.

The investigation began when the victims came forward, providing evidence and testimony against Karpeh. It was found that Karpeh used social media platforms to engage in intimate relationships with women, only to later exploit these relationships for financial gain. The suspect would secretly record explicit videos and take photos during video calls and then threaten to release these materials unless his demands for money were met.

One victim, whose identity has been withheld, reported that Karpeh recorded her while she was in the bathroom. When she refused to send him money, he posted the compromising video and photos on social media. This tactic was a part of a broader pattern of behavior where Karpeh repeatedly targeted women, gaining their trust to obtain intimate content, which he would later use for blackmail.

The investigation further revealed that Karpeh had been involved in similar activities as far back as 2022. He was known on a social media platform hosted by a woman called Shadow Rabbis, where he also harassed and insulted a financial and moral supporter of the platform. During this period, he hacked the victim’s phone, acquiring more explicit materials to use against her.

After careful analysis of the evidence, including the explicit photos and videos provided by the victims, the LNP concluded that Karpeh committed multiple crimes. These include the dissemination of obscene materials, criminal coercion, and dishonorable conduct.

The LNP emphasized the seriousness of these offenses and reassured the public of their commitment to protecting individuals from such exploitation. They urged other potential victims to come forward and report any similar incidents.

However, the arrest of Nippy Karpeh underscores the growing concern over online safety and the importance of vigilance in protecting personal information. The LNP’s swift action in this case highlights the critical role of law enforcement in addressing and preventing cyber-related crimes.
