TENSIONS FLARE AT LDEA HEADQUARTERS: DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL CLASH

Date:

MONROVIA – Reports from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have revealed a serious altercation between the Director General, Abraham Kromah, and his Deputy Director General of Operations, Hassan Fadiga, causing significant tension at the LDEA headquarters in Monrovia. Though details of the conflict have not been fully disclosed, insiders suggest that the dispute revolves around power dynamics, with both officials failing to acknowledge each other’s authority.

The conflict, which also involved their loyal officers, has prompted a significant increase in police presence at the scene today, with Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman intervening to de-escalate the situation.

This incident marks the second conflict between the two high-ranking officials, following a heated verbal altercation in April of this year. The disagreement reportedly escalated to the point where Fadiga instructed his driver to retrieve his weapon, although the driver refused, expressing frustration with the situation.

The unfolding conflict between these key figures within the LDEA raises concerns about the stability and unity of the Agency. Internal disputes of this nature can obstruct the effective operation and overall mission of the LDEA, which plays a crucial role in combating drug-related crimes in Liberia.

The government must urgently intervene to address the situation at the LDEA and prevent further escalation of tensions. It is imperative to ensure that the Agency remains focused on its primary objectives and that internal conflicts do not compromise its effectiveness.

Failure to promptly address these issues could have serious consequences for the LDEA, potentially undermining its ability to carry out its mandate effectively. The government’s intervention is needed to resolve the disputes and restore stability within the Agency.

The reported tensions between Director Abraham Kromah and Deputy Hassan Fadiga underscore the urgent need for government action. Addressing these internal conflicts is essential to maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the LDEA in its fight against drug-related crimes in Liberia.
