MAJOR COCAINE SEIZURE BY LDEA MARKS VICTORY IN DRUG FIGHT

Date:

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) celebrated a major success with the seizure of approximately 750 kilograms of high-concentrated cocaine. The operation was conducted by the Bomi detachment near the Tubmanburg belt in Bomi County, marking a critical milestone in the agency’s efforts despite ongoing attempts by detractors to undermine their work.

Commander Jusu credited the success to enhanced intelligence efforts and the dedication of his team, leading to the arrest of Ms. Rita S. Williams. Madam Williams, who claimed to work with the foreign ministry, was apprehended with a substantial quantity of cocaine valued at thousands of dollars on the street.

Commander Jusu, recently appointed by suspended Director Col. Abee Kromah, commended his team for their professionalism and commitment in realizing President Joseph N. Boakai’s vision to combat the drug crisis in Liberia.

Currently, Ms. Williams remains in the custody of the LDEA, undergoing processing for imminent prosecution through the judicial system. It is important to note that under current drug laws, convictions can result in lengthy prison sentences without the possibility of bail.

This successful operation underscores the LDEA’s relentless pursuit of drug traffickers and their commitment to upholding the rule of law in Liberia. As the investigation progresses, authorities anticipate further revelations that could dismantle drug networks and enhance public safety across the nation.
