MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA – The Unity Party Government, under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, is uplifting the spirits of Pleebo residents in District #2 through a vigorous clean-up campaign aimed at ensuring proper waste management and public safety.
The ceremony, held on July 6, 2024, at Pleebo City Hall, was attended by government officials, the Liberia National Police (LNP) Pleebo Detachment led by Commander Jmax Roberts, joint security forces, and Pleebo City Mayor Hon. Larry G. Geekor.
Mayor Geekor emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating that cleaning up the city aims to improve its appearance and create a healthier living environment. He noted that the program marks a significant milestone in the city, as phase two of the clean-up activities has drawn citizens’ attention to act accordingly.
“The Pleebo City Corporation (PCC), including the Liberia National Police (LNP) and joint security, have agreed to cooperate with the city authorities to regulate waste for hygiene. The cleaning exercise is scheduled for the first and last Saturday of every month,” he stated.
The PCC plans to install garbage cans along the principal streets of Pleebo, which, according to Mayor Geekor, will help keep the city clean and safe regularly.
Representing the LNP, Commander Jmax Roberts stated that educating citizens on waste elimination and good hygiene practices is part of their security training. He highlighted the recurring issue of citizens dumping waste along roads, causing significant health risks.
Commander Roberts reiterated the importance of good hygiene practices and called for close collaboration from residents to adhere to the measures being implemented for better city health.
