BILITY ACCUSES KOUNG OF MEDDLING IN NIMBA BY-ELECTION

Date:

NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA – Political tensions are escalating in Nimba County as Musa Hassan Bility, leader of the Movement for Citizens Change (CMC) and Representative of Nimba District #7, has accused Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung of interfering in the upcoming senatorial by-election.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Bility directly warned Koung against supporting Representative Samuel Kogar of Nimba District #5, who is a candidate in the highly anticipated by-election. Bility alleged that the Vice President’s involvement threatens the fairness of the electoral process and vowed to resist any further interference.

“If you try to support Samuel Kogar and push our people to vote for him, believe me, we will match you war for war,” Bility declared, signaling a direct confrontation if the Vice President continues to back Kogar’s candidacy.

The accusation raises serious questions about the Vice President’s role in local elections and whether his alleged interference undermines the democratic process. Critics argue that Koung’s support for a specific candidate could give undue advantage and jeopardize public confidence in the election’s integrity.

Bility questioned the rationale behind Koung’s involvement, arguing that the Vice President’s position is not impacted by the outcome of the by-election. “Whether Kogar wins or not, it has no bearing on your position. You should not be involved in this election,” he said, urging Koung to focus on his national duties rather than engaging in local political battles.

The growing friction between Bility and Koung reflects broader concerns about the influence of high-ranking government officials on local elections. Bility warned that any attempt by the Vice President to manipulate the by-election would not go unchallenged.

“Whoever is advising you to become Kogar’s campaign manager, stop it. If you come after our candidate, we will come after you,” Bility said, issuing a sharp rebuke to the Vice President’s alleged actions.
