PRESIDENT BOAKAI MAKES KEY GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has announced several key appointments to bolster the leadership of critical government agencies, with a focus on enhancing service delivery across Liberia’s public sector. The appointments, which span across the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), the Liberia Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (LAAIB), and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), reflect the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and public administration.

In a move aimed at improving the nation’s energy sector, Mr. Mohammed M. Sheriff has been nominated as Managing Director of the Liberia Electricity Corporation. Meanwhile, in the fisheries sector, Mr. J. Cyrus Saygbe, Sr. has been appointed as Acting Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority.

The Liberia Immigration Service will also see a change in leadership with the nomination of Mr. Elijah F. Rufus as Commissioner General. At the Liberia Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, Mr. Abner W. Yonly has been tapped for a critical role in ensuring safety standards and oversight in the aviation sector.

Additionally, President Boakai has filled several important legal positions in the Ministry of Justice with the nomination of county attorneys across Liberia. Cllr. John D. Miah, Atty. Frank S. Suku, Sr., Cllr. Gabriel G. Wleh, Cllr. J. Luther Sumo, Cllr. Pato Jarba, Cllr. Nyonkpao R.G. Daye, Cllr. Arthur M.S. Washington, and Cllr. Joshua G.K. Odoi have all been nominated to serve as County Attorneys in Nimba, Sinoe, Grand Kru, Lofa, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and Maryland counties, respectively.

These nominations are now subject to the confirmation of the Liberian Senate. President Boakai expressed his confidence in the newly appointed officials and urged them to demonstrate excellence and loyalty in their service to the nation. He called on them to remain committed to integrity and professionalism as they step into their new roles.

The announcement, made on Friday, March 14, 2025, marks the latest phase of President Boakai’s efforts to address the evolving needs of Liberia’s governance and public service sectors.
