MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, held a special meeting with the leadership of the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, as part of continued engagement with academic units across the university.
During the interactive session held in the President’s Conference Room on the third floor of the Academic Complex in Fendall, the Dean of Sawyer College, Associate Professor Dr. Josephus Gbala-hinnih Moses Gray, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the college’s major achievements from 2020 to 2025. The 30-page presentation highlighted milestones in academic development, faculty performance, research growth, and student engagement under the leadership of Dr. Gray.
In a symbolic gesture of appreciation and tradition, Dr. Gray, speaking on behalf of the chairpersons, faculty, staff and students of the college, unveiled a portrait of Dr. Maparyan. The portrait presentation, according to Dr. Gray, was a mark of honor recognizing the President’s leadership and commitment to academic excellence.
The event created a space for meaningful dialogue between the University President and members of Sawyer College, allowing faculty representatives to share ideas and raise concerns directly with the university’s top leadership.
The ceremony also reaffirmed the administration’s focus on fostering collaboration and enhancing institutional development across the University of Liberia.
