REV. BROWN CONDEMNS ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE – SAYS PEOPLE WHO DO ARE ENEMIES OF PEACE

Date:

LIBERIA – Rev. Dr. Kortu K Brown has frowned on people who threatened the peace of the country are enemies of peace. In a statement issued yesterday in Monrovia, he says it would be unacceptable for elements or supporters of ruling and/or non-ruling parties to threaten the peace and tranquility of the nation.

Rev. Brown’s statement comes in the wake of yesterday’s attack on an opposition politician, Amb. Lewis G. Brown. The former Information Minister had gone on Voice of Liberia, a local radio situated on the Capital By-Pass, Monrovia to propagate his planned December 17 ‘We are tired’ rally when people believed to be pro-government thugs, last evening, mobbed him (Mr. Brown).

Amb. Brown, is the head of the campaign team of the standard-bearer of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) Alexander Cummings.

Howbeit, Rev. Brown, who is the Pastor of the New Water in the Desert Assembly, Bishop, Apostolic Pentecostal Church International stated that said the people who try to interrupt or disrupt a clear exercise of a Constitutional right, freedom of speech at a local radio station talk show yesterday, are enemies of peace.

“Their actions are despicable and condemnable; insensitive and unwarranted,” the tough-talking clergy stressed.

He said: “Liberians are tired of violence. Nobody should resurrect unbridled violence in this country already challenged politically, economically, socially, and spiritually.

“As the Country prepares for the Presidential and Legislative Election scheduled for October 2023, every Liberian must guide against actions that could undermine peace, security, and stability and force other nations and partners to consider Liberians as an unserious and lawless people.”

Rev. Brown continued: “Words are meaningful and impactful. We must be cautious about how we process and use them. We demand that ALL leaders and supporters of political parties measure their utterances in these critical moments. We also call on all political parties including the Opposition  community to ensure that their political actions and utterances are in accordance with the rule of law.”

“We commend the Joint Security including the Police for swiftly acting to curtail violence in Monrovia last evening”, Rev. Brown concluded.

Rev. Dr. Kortu K Brown and Amb. Lewis G. Brown has no family ties…
