MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has announced a new wave of appointments affecting several key institutions of government, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Local Government, the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), and the National Transit Authority (NTA).
The latest appointments, announced by the Office of the President, include changes at the Ministry of Justice, where Cllr. Betty M. Lamin-Blamo has been appointed Minister of Justice, replacing Cllr. Oswald N. Tweh.
Cllr. Abrahim Boimah Sillah, Sr. has also been appointed Solicitor General, replacing Augustine Fayiah.
The outgoing Justice Minister and Solicitor General are expected to be reassigned to other levels of government, according to the announcement.
The changes at the Justice Ministry represent one of the most significant aspects of the latest appointments, placing new leadership at the helm of an institution central to the administration of justice, legal affairs and the enforcement of the rule of law.
Beyond the Justice Ministry, President Boakai has also made appointments within the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
Ms. Angel M. Morris has been appointed Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, while Mr. Harrison K. Sorsor has been named Assistant Minister for Research, Policy and Planning.
At the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, Mr. Alex Chersia Grant has been appointed Commissioner.
The PPCC plays an important role in Liberia’s public procurement and concessions framework, making the appointment significant for the government’s efforts to strengthen transparency, compliance and efficiency in the management of public procurement and concession processes.
In the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Christopher Ben Bailey has been appointed Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County.
The appointment places new leadership at the county level as the government continues to rely on local administrative structures to coordinate development activities and public services across Liberia’s counties.
Meanwhile, President Boakai has reappointed Mr. Benedict Yeke Harleysion, Sr. as Chairman of the Board of the National Transit Authority.
The latest appointments are part of what the Executive Mansion described as the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen key government institutions and enhance the effective delivery of public services.
The administration has continued to make changes to its leadership structure as it seeks to advance its governance and development priorities.
Some of the appointments, where applicable, will require confirmation by the Liberian Senate before the nominees can fully assume their respective positions.
The appointments were announced by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula B.N. Fofana.
