MONROVIA – Smart News Liberia has reliably learned that Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence is expected to endorse Unity Party’s standard-bearer Joseph N. Boakai on Sunday, May 14, 2023; and the endorsement program is expected to be held in Grand Bassa County.
Senator Lawrence who was recently overlooked as vice running mate to Amb. Joseph Boakai will finally join the Boakai-Koung ticket ahead of the October 10, 2023, presidential and legislative elections.
It can be recalled, amidst claims and counterclaims as to who Senator kanga-Lawrence will support, vowed to speak out to clear the assumptions in the public.
The Grand Bassa Senator posted on her official Facebook Page saying, “As leaders, we are open to talking with everyone in public or privately, as we have always done”.
She furthered: ”Under the prevailing circumstances, our decision will be guided by our principles and vision in the best interest of our country. We will speak out soon”.
The LP Political Leader posted after several other political groups including Alexander B. Cummings of the Alternative National Congress, Unity Party Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., and others allegedly reached out to her to capture her support.
It is also in the public that ex-president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf allegedly held a closed-door meeting with Sen. Abe Darius Dillon and Sen. Lawrence to encourage them to support Alexander Cummings.
Supporters of Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence have continuously posted that Amb. Joseph N. Boakai did not promise Sen. Lawrence a running mate post, adding that Sen. Karnga-Lawrence too didn’t promise Amb. Joseph Boakai her support.
However, supporters of the Unity Party, the Movement for Democratic Reconstruction (MDR), and the Liberty Party are expected to gather in numbers in Buchana on Sunday to show support for the Boakai-Koung ticket.
The Baokai-Koung ticket appears to be the favorite Presidential ticket for the upcoming presidential election ahead of the Liberian footballing President, George M. Weah, and former Coca-cola Executive, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.
