A lot has been going on amid the 2023 General and Presidential elections in the small West African nation. Unprincipled politicians are showing their true colors. That’s right! A bunch of chameleons as it were. Mind you, these are folks who want to change our country supposedly for the strange but unrealistic better. Shameless bigots!
What emerged as a fragile hope in the name of the CPP crumbled on UP’s Joe Baokai’s watch. Anyone pontificating such realism would be branded as anti-Baokai.
The former Vice President knows what goes on in a political kitchen. Of course, he can withstand the heat if you may. That is why he’s a politician in the first place. No one was expecting a magic formula.
The CPP disintegrated largely due to lack of clearly defined parameters and the absence of patriotism. If anyone disputes that, a counter research would be most useful. Most of our critics simply subscribe to talking though.
Comrade Henry Costa is still maintaining his silence following his controversial “man can’t talk all podcast…” No soothsayer has been able to unravel Costa’s next unpredictable move. He’s keeping everything close to his chest to say the least.
Whether a CPP or none at all, Liberians will vote on October 10. They will let the world know through their votes the misery besetting Africa’s oldest independent nation must end. Nearly all the main contenders in Liberia’s October polls have selected their running mates in the crucial elections. At least the running mates brouhaha has finally eclipsed.
As we take a snail-paced match to October 10, a lot has been going on behind the scenes. We are baffled amid speculations that the ruling CDC is ganging up against Nimba County senator, Prince Johnson. The regime, we understand, is going to great lengths to bankroll a candidate against the popular senator in his backyard.
Whatever the content or for a better word, truism in the latest grand scheme, weighing the options must be radically incensed. A few weeks ago the CDC said it had rallied some prominent sons and daughters of Nimba in the name of votes. As if they aren’t making progress, clearly, the latest ploy to depopulate Prince Johnson’s support base raises more questions than answers.
What is sickening is the newfound regime cum non-progressive pseudo marriage. This is distasteful and speaks volume in terms of some of those pretending to be crusading for change in a so-called better Liberia.
Ever since the emergence of progressive history on the Liberian political landscape, the anticipation of the masses has been all about genuine political and social redemption. Whether it is more utopian would be for another debate.
Disappointingly, progressive forces strangely for all the unexplained reasons – have seemingly become infiltrated, bought over or either forcibly succumbed to the trappings of the survival question. Some progressive elements have even become ideologically balkanized while the masses continue to wallop in extreme poverty. They’ve pointlessly become cocooned into the frenzy of mindless clear direction.
How can we advance the course of a better country when most of the campaigners for change are charlatans? What manner of mindset would seek to make Liberia tribalistic, or regionally incongruous? How do we make Liberia better when we cannot chastise our supporters or call a spade a spade?
The masses will continue to remain vulnerable! Their unquenchable desires will continue to be eroded! In about 100 days, we will go to the polls. Do we want change for the better or in the name of change? The power to change our situation is right in our hands. When we vote wisely, we could change the course of history. That’s the challenge! Be a part of history by voting right!
