ARE LIBERIANS LINKED TO ALLEGED PLOT IN SIERRA LEONE?

Date:

Some Liberians are said to have been arrested for link to an alleged plot in neighboring Sierra Leone, top sources in Freetown have informed Smart News Liberia.

Sierra Leonean Police recently arrested several people, including high-ranking soldiers, suspected to be planning violent attacks on citizens.

Sources have revealed that some of those arrested in the alleged plot include Liberians. An audio purporting to have been recorded by Sierra Leonean investigators is making rounds on social media with one of those arrested speaking in a Liberian tone.

Sierra Leone Police have not named those arrested. According to the police statement, “The security sector has been following intelligence regarding the activities of certain individuals, including senior military officers, working to undermine the peace and tranquillity of the state.

“In that regard, several arrests have been made and the suspects are assisting the police with the investigations.” Smart News Liberia is digging deep into the report.
