ARMAH JALLAH URGES POLITICAL CALM AFTER SUPREME COURT RULING IN FAVOR OF SPEAKER KOFFA

Date:

MONROVIA – Former Senate Pro Tempore Armah Zolu Jallah has called for political restraint and national unity following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a Bill of Information filed by House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa, a ruling that delivered a significant blow to the so-called Majority Bloc in the House of Representatives.

In a written statement titled “Majority Block Setback on the Koffa Bill of Information: Time to Let Liberia Move Forward,” Jallah acknowledged the legal defeat suffered by the group opposing Koffa’s leadership, characterizing it as both a political and judicial setback. However, he framed the Court’s opinion as a reaffirmation of constitutional order rather than a partisan victory.

Jallah referenced the recent Nimba County by-election, which saw a mixed outcome for the Unity Party, as a moment of political recalibration. He emphasized that now is not the time to inflame tensions but rather to shift attention to national priorities such as economic recovery, institutional development, and service delivery.

“The ruling marks a moment for reflection—not retribution,” Jallah wrote, encouraging both opposition and ruling party lawmakers to channel their energy toward good governance. He argued that continued courtroom battles and political brinkmanship risk undermining Liberia’s progress and distract from the real issues confronting ordinary citizens.

Jallah, a seasoned politician with deep roots in both legislative and national affairs, urged all sides to embrace this moment as an opportunity for healing and cooperation. “Let Liberia move on, void of distraction and full of purpose,” he concluded, echoing a growing call for a shift away from partisan deadlock and toward national interest.
