CDC SECRETARY JEFFERSON KOIJEE DENOUNCES PRESIDENT BOAKAI’S ASSET RECOVERY TEAM AS A WITCH HUNT

Date:

MONROVIA – In a strong statement issued today at the headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), the former ruling party’s Secretary General, Jefferson Koijee, vehemently criticized President Joseph Boakai’s newly established asset recovery team. Koijee categorically stated that no official of the CDC would comply with or submit to the government’s assets recovery team.

Addressing CDC partisans and supporters, Koijee urged them to resist the asset recovery team in all forms and manners. He expressed unwavering support for the party’s members and emphasized that not even a single CDC member, not even a “chicken,” would cooperate with the government’s initiative.

Furthermore, Koijee conveyed a message from CDC’s political leader, President George Weah. He named Janga Kowo as the acting chairman of the party until the next convention. The appointment of Kowo aims to ensure smooth party operations and maintain a strong leadership structure.

In a separate development, President Weah has made a request for twenty-five Executive Protection Service (EPS) personnel to enhance his security detail. Koijee warned that if the request is not fulfilled, the CDC party would take matters into their own hands to protect the president. He stated that the party would organize a national protection day for President Weah, during which Mr. Boakai would be expected to work from home rather than the Executive Mansion.

Koijee emphasized that the CDC party is action-oriented and will not shy away from ensuring President Weah’s safety. He warned against any attempts to undermine the president’s security and promised to protect him until the party feels comfortable that he is well-secured.

The appointment of Janga Augustus Kowo as the new Chairman of the CDC was also announced during the gathering. Kowo’s leadership role within the party signifies a new chapter in the CDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structure and advance its political agenda.

As tensions rise between the CDC and the government, it remains to be seen how this conflict will unfold in the coming days. The CDC’s firm stance against the asset recovery team and their commitment to President Weah’s protection indicate a determined and resolute party ready to defend its interests.
