CLINIC ADMINISTRATOR ARRESTED FOR PERFORMING UNAUTHORIZED SURGERY THAT KILLED PATIENT

Date:

MONROVIA – A man who posed as a doctor and performed a fatal surgery has been arrested, raising serious concerns about medical fraud and patient safety in Liberia. Sam Worlobah, an Operating Room Technician and administrator of Lofa Medic Services Clinic in Neezoe, Jacob Town, allegedly carried out an unauthorized procedure that led to the death of 30-year-old Samuel P. Kollie.

Worlobah, who lacked the necessary medical qualifications, falsely presented himself as a licensed doctor before conducting the surgery. The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) confirmed his arrest and has ordered the immediate closure of the clinic, which was operating under his supervision.

The LMDC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, launched an investigation after Kollie’s death, uncovering that Worlobah had been illegally practicing medicine. The case has sparked concerns over the growing presence of unqualified individuals in Liberia’s healthcare system, endangering the lives of unsuspecting patients.

“The integrity of our medical profession is at stake, and we are working tirelessly to ensure that only qualified professionals are allowed to practice,” said James-Emmanuel D. Cole, Jr., a representative of the LMDC.

The LMDC has vowed to intensify efforts to identify and remove unlicensed practitioners from the healthcare sector. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of medical fraud to prevent further tragedies.
