GRAND KRU TECHNICAL COLLEGE HONORS DR. GRAY DURING HISTORIC PRESIDENTIAL INVESTITURE

Date:

BARCLAYVILLE, GRAND KRU COUNTY – In a landmark event marking a new chapter in higher education for southeastern Liberia, the Grand Kru Technical College on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, held its first-ever investiture ceremony to formally install Prof. Dr. Sarwee Joe Wia Faeflen as the institution’s inaugural president.

Amid a jubilant atmosphere and clear skies in Barclayville City, faculty, students, staff, government officials, local authorities, and invited guests assembled to witness what was described as a historic milestone for the county and the college. The ceremony was highlighted by a symbolic handing over of the gavel of authority by former Acting President Dr. Josephus Gray to Dr. Faeflen. In his remarks, Dr. Gray encouraged his successor to wield the gavel with wisdom and purpose, emphasizing its role in fostering stability, institutional growth, and academic excellence.

In a moment of reflection and recognition, the Board of Trustees and administration of Grand Kru Technical College presented a special honor to Dr. Gray for his outstanding leadership and transformative contributions to the institution. The honor was conferred on behalf of the Trustees by the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency and the County Development Superintendent, who commended Dr. Gray’s efforts in laying a strong foundation for the college’s development.

Dr. Gray, a Paris-trained academic who holds a BA in Mass Communication, an MA in International Relations, and a Ph.D. in International Relations and Diplomacy, was visibly moved during the ceremony. His tenure as Acting President was credited with stabilizing the institution, fostering academic credibility, and elevating the profile of the college both locally and nationally.

The investiture of Dr. Faeflen and the recognition of Dr. Gray symbolize a renewed vision for higher education in Grand Kru County, with stakeholders hopeful that the college will continue to serve as a pillar of progress for the region.
