HANDS OF HOPE-LIB UNDERTAKES ANNUAL CHARITY PROGRAM

Date:

LIBERIA – On Christmas Day, it was all smiles with a heap of toys on display to distribute to kids. Hands of Hope-LIB Inc, a charitable organization, carried out its annual Christmas toy distribution on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Thinkers’ Village, Paynesville.

More than 1,200 kids from surrounding communities, namely Kpelle Town, Zubah Town, GSA Road, Guest House Road, Rehab Community, Bassa Town, and Baptist Seminary, received a variety of toys from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

The ages of the beneficiaries ranged from 1 to 12 years. Toys provided include dolls, footballs, basketballs, cars, airplanes, scooters, teddy bears, board games, skateboards, etc.  Parents and guardians expressed appreciation for the Christmas gifts and appealed to Hands of Hope-LIB to continue its charitable work annually.

The Executive Director of Hands of Hope-LIB, Mrs. Lydia C. Sebwe, also lauded individuals who continue to provide financial and in-kind support to the annual Christmas Toy Distribution Program. She extended gratitude to Duke Weeks, Johantz Caine, David McGuire and family, Gretchen and Mike Nelson, Rita Williams, Erin, and Sarah.  Mrs. Sebwe said, “the kids were excited about the Christmas gifts; the toys indeed put smiles on their faces regardless of social status or the number of toys they had already received from parents or guardians.”

Hands of Hope Liberia Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 2015, dedicated to providing educational opportunities through academic and athletic scholarship programs to Liberian youth who are financially challenged. It is headed by Mrs. Lydia C. Sebwe, Executive Director, along with a Board of Directors.

The nonprofit also has a branch in the United States of America.  Beneficiaries in Liberia include students currently enrolled at different educational levels, namely elementary and senior high, and college/university.
