IMF TRAINS LRA STAFF IN DATA ANALYSIS

Date:

MONROVIA – At least 20 staff of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) are undergoing a weeklong training in Mirror Data Analysis provided by the International Monetary Fund.

An LRA press release issued today, says that the training which kicked off on Monday (June 19) is the second phase of a Capacity Building project for Customs and Risk Management Officers of the LRA and Experts from the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department (IMF/FAD).

The first phase of the training began online before the IMF experts arrived in the country for the physical session at the LRA Headquarters in Paynesville, Customs Commissioner Saa Saamoi said at the opening ceremonies.

Commissioner Saamoi lauded the IMF delegation for accepting to build the capacity of the LRA Customs officers in the management of data and information.

Commissioner Saamoi underscored the importance and reality of working with data in modern Customs, and how well to analyze them in picking up issues affecting revenue generation.

He urged the participants to take advantage and improve on data analysis for revenue growth.

Meanwhile, the leader of the IMF training team, Kenneth Head, disclosed that the second phase of the training is the most critical and it’s intended to identify where the revenue loses are and find better solutions through accurate data analysis.

“We at IMF/ FAD are very impressed by the level of work done by the LRA team in Liberia and have come to improve on the mirror data analysis,” he said.
