LOFA COUNTY – The Independent Joseph Jallah has been declared the winner in the just-ended Lofa County Senatorial By-election.
National Election Commission (NEC) chairperson Davidetta Brown Lasana announced Friday that Jallah acquired the highest votes in the election.
NEC Chairman: “Mr. Joseph Jallah, having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner of the Lofa County by-election.”
Jallah, who was heavily supported by the ruling CDC in the polls, obtained 22,019, with a slim margin of 790 votes over Galakpai Kortimai who received 21,229.
Some Garlakpai Kortimai’s Unity Party supporters had complained of wrong math on various tally sheets by NEC staff.
The former ruling party has not conceded defeat, up to the release of the final results.
