Date:

By Aaron B Nemah

MARYLAND CO., LIBERIA – The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested and incinerated a substantial quantity of narcotic substances valued at LD$2,943,548.4 on Monday, July 1, 2024, during World Drug Day in Philadelphia, outside Harper City. Present at the event were the Philadelphia Township Commissioner, civil society organizations, the County Attorney, the Harper City Mayor, and other dignitaries.

LDEA Commander Moses Birr explained that the destruction of these narcotic substances is part of the agency’s tradition and commitment to enhancing accountability, transparency, and reduction of drug use through incineration. The substances burned included 11.34g of Kush, 0.85g of cocaine, 26.12g of heroin, and 10.5kg of marijuana.

“The burning of these narcotic substances is in line with the long-standing mandate of LDEA that all drugs seized during patrol should be kept and burned on World Drug Day every year on June 26,” stated Commander Moses Birr.
