LIBERIA INTENSIFIES EFFORT TO TRANSITION FROM PAPER PROCUREMENT TO NEW  DIGITAL SYSTEM

Date:

The Liberian Government through the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC), has intensified efforts to get Liberia ready to transition from a paper-based procurement system to a new digital or e-procurement system to ensure value for taxpayers’ and donors’ money.

“We have learned Public Policy and Change Management, which is very critical to enable Liberia smoothly transition to put the country and PPCC as well on par with other public procurement entities around the world, Cllr. J. Roseline Nagbe-Kowo made the disclosure to the media over the weekend via mobile phone conversation.

According to her, the establishment of the modern electronic procurement system is expected to be the first in Liberia and could bring about effective ability and effectiveness in Liberia’s public procurement system.

“The introduction of the expected new digital procurement system could enhance improvement in the country’s public procurement system and bring about the very best to ensure value for money,” Cllr. Roseline Kowo noted.

“She said PPCC is working tirelessly to mitigate few challenges that would occur because of the much talked about transition from paper-driven procurement to a new digital procurement system.”

“There are a lot of strategies that will be employed by PPCC and as such, she and a few staff are in Istanbul, Turkey, and are expected to return to Liberia to put to work or practicalize what they have learned to professionally operate the new digital procurement system, which is very instrumental and fundamental in elevating Liberia’s public procurement system,” she pointed out.
