MONROVIA – Mustaph Kanneh, chairman of the University of Liberia camps-based political party, the Vanguard Students Unification Party (SUP) has alleged that he narrowly escaped death at his 20th street residence to the invasion of some unknown men.
According to Peoples Media Agency, Kanneh told the outlet in a telephone conversation over the weekend that he is currently in hiding at an unknown destination due to the attack on his home by unknown individuals.
Accordingly, he said that the attackers came after him due to the press conference he had on Friday, March 10, 2023, calling for a mass student protest on Monday, March 13, 2023, which Representative Moses A. Gray and Dixson Seboe had vowed to disrupt.
He narrated, “On Saturday evening, I was sitting at my place with some comrades discussing how we will execute our plans for Monday Mass protest. While in conversation, we saw these unknown guys walking toward us straight at the house and demanded that I leave with them because someone wants to have dinner with me.”
According to the SUP chairman, he resisted going with them and rejected that the person come to him but the guys insisted and so they attacked him and tried to forcefully carry him.
He indicated that he managed to escape the scene with the effort of some of his colleagues, and comrades through the back way of his residence.
“I just can’t tell how I escape the scene but my friend took me away after the guys damage some properties in my house including my living room video set. They beat on my father and my sister because they refused to tell them how I leave the scene” he mentioned.
Meanwhile, Chairman Kanneh had accused Montserrado County district number #8 representative Moses A. Gray of masterminding the attack on his life, family, and home.
He noted that he identified Representative Gray among the crow because when he asked the guys they declined to mention who sent for him but he hear the voice of Representative Gray among the thugs.
It can be recalled, Rep Gray recently wrote on his Facebook page calling on the student community to join him for a dinner at the UL Capitol Hill campus Monday, March 13th, 2023.
“Come and enjoy lunch with me by 12:30 pm tomorrow at the University of Liberia Campus on Capitol Hill. We will also have a meet and greet with our students and constituents during our peaceful gathering. We have no intention to cause disruption or engage those who disagree with us. Note: I General Acarous Moses Tallahkai Tombekai Gray will be there yah,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, SUP in a press conference over the weekend, calls for a mass citizen rally today, on Monday, March 13, 2023, and responds to the violent threats of Rep. Acarous Gray and Dixon Seboe invading the UL Campus.
“The Vanguard Student Unification Party uses this wavelength to decisively respond to the threat absurdities of Representatives Gray and Seboe of the puppet and gangster enterprise of the CDC of violently invading the Capitol Hill Campus of the University of Liberia and spatter harms on university students in the name of crude showmanship and nauseating arrogance that anything if any student gets injured on the instructions of both Gray and Seboe, they will be held reliable and made to pay dearly by the Vanguard Student Unification.
Reading the press statement, the SUP chairman said that they want to bring this unsolicited provocation to the attention of the International Community, Civil Society, Religious Community, the Liberia National Police, the leadership of the Legislature, and the University of Liberia authority to make them understand the masterminds behind the violence incitements on the campus of the university.
He noted that they want to also register with the above-mentioned institutions regarding the increasing waves of death threats on the lives of its leaders and the consistent tailings of members of the leadership especially leaders of the Politburo of the Party by terrible assassins of the CDC government.
“Our lives are in the hands of the Weah.
