LIBERIA, UAE. SIGN BILATERAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT TO DEVELOP ECONOMIC AND TECHNICAL COOPERATION

LIBERIA – The Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Republic of Liberia on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in the city of Bopolu, Gbarpolu County.

According to the agreement, it is to develop economic and technical cooperation between the two countries based on equality, reciprocity, and mutual benefits.

The agreement further noted that the cooperation between the Contracting Parties shall include the following areas, trade in Goods and Services, Investment, Agriculture, including agro-processing activities, livestock, Fisheries and acquisition or lease of Agricultural lands, energy and Renewable Energy, Mining and Industry, Infrastructure, Construction and Real Estate, Tourism, Telecommunication, Transportation.

“The Contracting Parties may decide to co-operate in other areas that appear to be more advantageous, considering the priorities of the economic policy of the states of the Parties.

“To implement the Economic and technical cooperation under this Agreement, the Contracting Parties shall encourage relevant specialized entities and business communities to explore the possibilities of executing projects in various areas of economic and technical cooperation”, the agreement noted.

The agreement further mentioned that the Contracting Parties shall grant special facilities and incentives to investors in both countries if such actions are in accordance with their legislation in force and the International obligations and commitments of both countries.

“The Contracting Parties shall, encourage the participation of their business communities in International fairs and exhibitions held in both countries;

Support and encourage the exchange of visits of business delegations”, the agreement intoned.

H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Member of the Regnant Family & Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign  Affairs and International Cooperation, United Arab Emirates, and H.E. Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet of the Republic of Liberia signed on behalf of UAE and Liberia respectively.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the newly dedicated Emirates Hospital Liberia in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County. H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, and Her Excellency Dr. Aysha Sultan Aldhaheri, Executive Director of Military Health Services, UAE Army, United Arab Emirates graced the signing ceremony.
