NGAFUAN HEADS LIBERIAN DELEGATION TO IMF AND WORLD BANK SPRING MEETINGS IN WASHINGTON

Date:

MONROVIA – Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, leads the country’s delegation to the 2025 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, set to be held in Washington, D.C. from April 21 to 26.

Joining Minister Ngafuan are key government officials, including Central Bank Governor Henry Saamoi, Public Works Minister Roland L. Giddings, Education Minister Dr. Jarso M. Jallah, and Deputy Finance Minister for Economic Management Dephue Zuo. The delegation is expected to participate in a range of bilateral and multilateral engagements focused on advancing Liberia’s national development plan, known as the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

While in Washington, Minister Ngafuan will hold individual meetings with high-ranking officials such as World Bank Vice President Ousman Diagana, IMF Executive Director Mr. Ouattara Wautabouna, IMF Africa Department Director Adebe Selassie, as well as representatives from the U.S. State Department’s Africa and Economic Affairs Bureaus, the International Finance Corporation, and finance ministers from countries including Brazil and Kuwait.

Additionally, at the invitation of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Minister Ngafuan will preside over a meeting of the AfDB Board of Governors’ Standing Committee on Conditions of Service for Elected Officers.

The Liberian delegation is also expected to conduct follow-up discussions with the Kuwait Fund and other Arab financial institutions to seek funding for the long-anticipated Gbarnga-Mendikorma road project.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Minister Ngafuan emphasized: “Our primary objective at the Spring Meetings is to strengthen partnerships and rally support for the successful execution of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.”
