MONROVIA – In a show of dedication to the nation’s security, President Joseph Boakai has emphasized his administration’s resolve to fortify the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), calling it one of the most respected military institutions in the country.
During a ceremony held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Executive Mansion, the President spoke highly of the AFL’s commitment to service, highlighting the institution’s discipline and professionalism. He reiterated the government’s unwavering support in building a military capable of protecting the nation’s sovereignty.
“We will ensure that the Armed Forces of Liberia remains strong and is ready to defend the state against any threat that may arise,” President Boakai affirmed, underscoring the importance of a capable military force.
At the same ceremony, Major General Davidson F. Forleh was formally reaffirmed in his role as Chief of Staff of the AFL, while Colonel Theophilus A. Dana was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. President Boakai, acting as Commander-in-Chief, pinned the new rank on Colonel Dana during the event.
The gathering, which included high-ranking officials and military leaders, was part of the administration’s continued efforts to enhance Liberia’s defense capabilities.
Reflecting on the challenges his administration has faced, President Boakai expressed gratitude to the AFL for its steadfastness and cooperation during the ongoing efforts to enhance national security.
“We are committed to ensuring that the AFL stands as one of the finest military forces in Africa,” President Boakai concluded, recognizing the significant role of the army in maintaining peace and stability across Liberia.
