REP. FOKO DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY, THREATENS ‘KENYA STYLE’ CIVIL ACTION AGAINST LEGISLATURE

MONROVIA – District Number Nine Representative Frank Saah Foko has kindled controversy by advocating for a ‘Kenya Style’ civil action against members of Liberia’s national legislature. Foko accuses his fellow lawmakers of being egocentric and failing to adequately represent the Liberian masses.

Representative Foko’s frustration came to a head during a session in the House of Representatives when the chamber appeared to procrastinate on taking action against government functionaries who allegedly violated the law while performing their duties.

In a fiery outburst, the opposition CDC Representative threatened to burn down the chambers of the House of Representatives, alleging that lawmakers were more interested in their personal gain than in addressing the concerns of the people. Foko did not mince his words, labeling his colleagues as “criminals and a bunch of egocentric individuals” who prioritize enriching themselves over serving the common people.

He expressed his disappointment with the lack of concern shown by members of the House of Representatives towards the people they are meant to represent. This frustration has led him to consider the torching of the chambers of the House of Representatives, similar to a recent incident in Kenya.

The lawmaker also criticized the treatment of the managing director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) by the House. He questioned why the director was allowed to leave without facing consequences after being summoned to explain a loan taken without legislative approval.

Representative Foko’s strong stance has sparked a debate within the Liberian political landscape, with supporters and critics voicing their opinions on the matter. The call for a ‘Kenya Style’ civil action against the legislature has certainly brought attention to the need for a more accountable and responsive government in Liberia.
