UN OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIMES RECOGNIZES LIBERIA DRUGS ENFORCEMENT AGENCY  FOR EXCEPTIONAL OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE

Date:

LIBERIA – The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) recently certificated the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for its exceptional operational performances covering the year 2022.

The certificate, according to the UNODC WACI Coordinator Mr. Jesus Aguilar Cerenzo, is in distinct recognition of the Hard Work, Professionalism, and Outstanding Operational Results achieved by the LDEA, especially during the Third Trimester of the year 2022.

The UNODC Team also extended the certificate of recognition to the twelve satellite details within Montsurrado County as they commended the institution. RIA, Marshall, King Gray, Spring Field, West Point, Clara Town, New Kru Town, Iron Gate, Caldwell, Barnersville, Red Light, and Carey’s burg were amongst those receiving certificates on behalf of their respective Details.

Making the presentation on behalf of UNODC, Mr. Luiz Diaz, UNODC Law Enforcement Expert said, “His institution has been following the workings of the LDEA over the years and the level of professionalism, hard work, and operational achievements by the LDEA have so far attracted confidence and accountability in the nation’s premier drug law enforcement institution.” He further intimated that the certificates are intended to motivate the hard work of the institution and at the same time remind officers of their responsibility to duty.

Receiving the certificate on behalf of the LDEA, the Acting Director General of the LDEA Hon. Lorenzo P. W. Pehlam used the occasion to equally lavish praises on the UN body for the level of cooperation and support rendered to the LDEA over the years. He said, ” UNODC will continue to remain a major partner to the LDEA, so far the fight against drug abuse and trafficking continues to linger.” He also used the occasion to call on officers to always exhibit tolerance and professionalism as they go about delivering on their respective duties.

The International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been very supportive of the work of the LDEA in ensuring our fight against transnational organized crime in Liberia.
