MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Unity Party Montserrado Youth Congress has issued a strong call for Rustonlyn Suacoco Dennis, President and CEO of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), to step down as she faces a corruption probe by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). The group insists that her continued presence in office threatens the integrity of both the government and the party.
In a statement released Tuesday, the youth wing expressed deep concerns over allegations against Dennis, stressing that accountability and transparency must be the guiding principles of public service. The statement, signed by Yusuf M. Konneh, its Public Relations Officer, emphasized that corruption weakens democratic institutions and erodes public confidence in governance.
The group made it clear that every government official, regardless of rank or affiliation, must uphold ethical standards. It called on Dennis to cooperate fully with the LACC and submit herself to the investigation without hesitation. Her commitment to due process, they argued, would demonstrate a willingness to clear her name and affirm her dedication to the rule of law.
The youth congress urged Dennis to take immediate steps to resign, asserting that her departure would ensure an impartial and unhindered investigation. Holding onto her position amid such serious allegations, they warned, could cast doubt on the government’s commitment to fighting corruption. They insisted that stepping aside would not only protect her reputation but also reaffirm the Unity Party’s stance on accountability.
Reaffirming their commitment to good governance, the youth movement stressed that leadership is defined by actions, not just words. They vowed to continue pushing for ethical conduct within the party and the government, warning that any attempt to shield individuals from scrutiny would undermine Liberia’s democratic progress. As the investigation unfolds, they called on the public to stand firm in demanding transparency and justice.
