LIBERIA – The Head of the Independent Media Stakeholders Committee says her Committee has requested two weeks to enable them to probe into the ongoing election dispute among members of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).
The Committee was appointed by the PUL President, Charles Coffey, consistent with a one-week mandate given by Justice in Chambers Yusuf Kabah.
Speaking in an ELBC interview on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Veteran Journalist and Trainer, Professor Weade Kobbah Boley, said such request was made to lawyers representing the two teams.
Madam Boley said:” The one-week period given by Justice Kaba is insufficient to settle such a dispute.”
She, at the same time, wondered why members of the PUL will have to take matters of the Union to court instead of settling problems among themselves.
Madam Boley further disclosed that the Committee is meeting today, November 30, 2022, to begin discussions on the contending issues that triggered the constitution of the Committee.
Madam Boley and Co-Members are attempting to find a solution to a disputed election from the recent Gbarnga Convention largely boycotted by majority members of the Press Union of Liberia.
