WE THE PEOPLE DISOWNS PROTEST ORGANIZED BY STAND CHAIRMAN MULBAH MORLU

Date:

MONROVIA – The Executive Committee of WE THE PEOPLE has publicly disassociated itself from a protest being organized by Mr. Mulbah K. Morlu, chairman of the STAND movement, warning that the group has no involvement in the event and denouncing the unauthorized use of its name.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, April 4, 2025, and signed by Chairman John A. Ballout Jr., the organization clarified that it is not participating in, nor has it authorized, any coordination or promotion of the protest in question.

“We wish to make it unequivocally clear that WE THE PEOPLE is not affiliated with the planning, coordination, or promotion of this protest,” the statement read.

While affirming its respect for the constitutional rights of all Liberians and groups to peacefully assemble, WE THE PEOPLE expressed concern over what it called the misuse of its name by Mr. Morlu. The group called on him to cease all references to WE THE PEOPLE in any public communication or mobilization efforts related to the protest, and instead urged him to act under the name of his own movement, STAND.

“WE THE PEOPLE remains an independent body with its own identity and agenda,” the group emphasized. “Any future position or action taken by our organization will be communicated directly and through our official channels.”

The group also issued a public advisory, warning individuals and organizations not to engage in any dealings with Mr. Morlu under the banner of WE THE PEOPLE, labeling any such representation as unauthorized and misleading.

The protest, reportedly spearheaded by STAND, comes amid growing political and civil discourse in the country. However, WE THE PEOPLE insists it will maintain its independence and transparency in all future actions.
