WEAH CALLS FOR UNITY AND COMPASSION AMONG LIBERIAN MUSLIMS

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Former President George Manneh Weah has urged the Muslim community in Liberia to embrace unity and eliminate divisive behaviors during a speech on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at a celebration marking the end of Ramadan. Speaking to a crowd of thousands, President Weah encouraged Muslims to cultivate love and compassion, emphasizing the importance of solidarity within the community.

“Today, I implore all of you who harbor hate: let this be the day you remove such negativity from your soul so that God may bestow upon you the blessings you seek,” President Weah said during his remarks. His words resonated deeply with the audience, urging them to reflect on their actions and attitudes towards one another.

The former president also addressed the issue of exploitation within the community, particularly in relation to aid provided for the Muslim population. “Those of you who crook from your own people, it’s time to stop. When aid is provided for the benefit of the Muslim community, do not pilfer from it,” he admonished, calling for greater accountability and integrity among leaders and individuals.
