WEAH GOVERNMENT ACCUSED OF DISCRIMINATION BY FLYING FINANCE MINISTER AND WIFE OUT FOR ADVANCED TREATMENT AND SNUBBING POOR DRIVER AND SECURITIES

Date:

LIBERIA – Concerns are being raised in many quarters in Monrovia by some Liberians about “Discrimination” meted out against the driver and Two securities of Liberia’s Finance Minister who were all injured in a tragic car accident on the Lofa road over the weekend.

Some Liberians are shocked that the poor driver and two security personnel were left in Liberia, while Finance Minister Tweah and his wife were swiftly flown to Istanbul, Turkey for advanced treatment.

The Liberian Government in a statement released yesterday announced Finance Minister and his wife were flown out of the country for advanced medication.

The government says the Finance and Development Minister, Samuel Tweah, had been flown to Ankara, Turkey for advanced medical checkup days after he and his wife and three others sustained injuries from a road accident.

The government notes that the minister and his wife are recuperating after undergoing surgeries at the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey.

The statement notes that the three others (the driver, and two security personnel) assigned with the Minister who were also injured in the accident were discharged from a local hospital in Monrovia.

Some Liberians who called the Smart News on the issue said the Liberian government’s action is “discriminatory and Inhumane.”

They questioned the government’s reasons to leave the poor three behind, while it takes a very wealthy finance minister and his wife out of the country to seek advanced medication.

The citizens state that the action of the government to deny the poor citizens advanced medication, is a contravention of its pro-poor mantra that brought it to power in the 2017 elections.

According to the citizens,  the government’s action further shows that Pres. Weah and his officials only care for themselves.
