WONGOSOL EXTOLS LIBERIANS FOR PEACEFUL PARTICIPATION IN RUN-OFF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

MONROVIA – The Board of Directors, Members, and the Secretariat of (WONGOSOL) extend gratitude to the Liberian People (most especially the women of Liberia) for peacefully turning out in their numbers to vote during the November 14th, 2023 Run-off Presidential Elections.

In a statement issued recently, WONGOSOL said Liberians’ ability to work, reason, and commiserate with each other, signifies strength and resilience as a people.

WONGOSOL also extended thanks to Liberia’s international and bilateral partners, adding, “We applaud you for your support in ensuring that our electoral process was free and transparent.”

“As we continue to process the election results in different ways, we want to acknowledge the great works National Election Commission for the level of accountability and transparency in the conduct of the elections so far.”

“We also commend the Liberia Joint Security for the level of maturity in handling the national security during the elections.”

“Now that we are nearest to the conclusion of the election, despite of our differences, we are calling on all Liberians to respect the elections results and deliberate on what role we want to play in our country’s next chapter.”

“We hope we will take this opportunity to come together with one voice and focus on our strengths and aspirations and how we can best support each other.”

“We also want to use this medium to congratulate the President of Liberia Amb. George Manneh Weah for his very responsible act of conceding defeat and sending a congratulatory message to his counterpart.”

At the Same time, we extend congratulations to Amb. Joseph Boakai, President-elect and the Unity Party for the victorious lead as per the NEC records of count. We urge the Leadership of the Unity Party to transition from a party politics mood and begin early preparation to lead the process of National Unity, Peace and a Gender Sensitive Government ensuring that the Women’s Agenda is prioritized.

“Thanks once again for our devotion to the process and we look forward to receiving the official results from the NEC,” the statement concluded.
