CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA – Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Rules and Order on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as part of an ongoing legislative investigation into remarks he made regarding the Liberia–Guinea border dispute. Kolubah, who arrived with a legal team, was summoned to address his statements about the disputed land between Liberia and Guinea.
The investigation centers on Kolubah’s controversial claims made during a broadcast on Spoon TV, where he stated that his “survey” revealed that the disputed land belongs to Guinea. These comments have raised concerns, especially at a time when tensions regarding the border issue remain high. The formal complaint prompting the investigation was filed by Montserrado County District #3 Representative Sumo Molubah and Police Inspector General Gregory O. Coleman.
Kolubah’s legal team, which includes former Associate Justice Cabineh Ja’neh, along with Cllr. Moriah Yeakula and Cllr. Jonathan Massaquoi, requested additional time to gather evidence in his defense. However, the committee, chaired by Rep. James Kolleh, denied this request, stating that it could not grant an extension due to time constraints.
During the ongoing proceedings, Rep. Kolleh emphasized that Kolubah would need to speak for himself, rather than allowing his legal team to represent him fully. “You are a member of this body, and you must speak for yourself,” Kolleh told Kolubah. “Your lawyers should serve as guardians, not spokespersons, as we continue with this hearing.”
The committee is reviewing Kolubah’s statements and their potential implications for national security, especially in light of the ongoing territorial dispute. The investigation has generated attention, with many questioning the potential political and diplomatic consequences of Kolubah’s remarks.
