Senator Milton Teahjay
LIBERIA – The Southeastern county of Sinoe is on the verge of a political explosion as rivery between two political rivals heightens.
It’s Unity Party Milton Teahjay versus ruling Coalition for Democratic Change Crayton Duncan. The two and others will contest various legislative seats in the upcoming 2023 legislative election in the county.
The situation has reached a boiling point, so much so that supporters of Teahjay and Duncan are threatening to kill each other.
Milton Teahjay is a sitting senator who’s going for reelection but is going to be challenged by Duncan who’s a sitting Representative for District # 1 in the county.
A recent case in point is when the two parties clashed in the Tartweh area of the county. It is alleged that the Duncan faction is accusing Senator Teahjay of shielding a man who allegedly committed a crime and was released by the senator.
Our sources said Senator Teahjay allegedly released the suspect from police detention which infuriated the Duncan faction. And that when Teahjay went to a town in Tartweah for a political meeting, supporters of Representative Duncan moved into the area to allegedly attack him.
According to sources, the two parties clashed in a fistfight, with some getting injured.
Our sources said it nearly got bloody, but took the intervention of the town’s elders to abort a potential catastrophe on that evening.
Sinoe County has a limited Police presence, and security analysts say the government must act swiftly to increase security to nip the potential threats posed by the river of the two legislators.
