PRINCE C. JOHNSON III REFLECTS ON 18 YEARS OF SERVICE AND HISTORIC POLITICAL TRANSITIONS IN LIBERIA

Date:

MONROVIA – In an exclusive statement, Prince C. Johnson III, a highly respected retired officer of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), expressed his gratitude for nearly 18 years of dedicated service to the people of Liberia. Having held all three senior positions within the armed forces, Johnson reflects on the opportunities and challenges he encountered during his illustrious career.

Johnson served as the Brigade Commander/Commanding General, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff/Chief of Defense Staff, commanding respect and admiration from his colleagues and subordinates. His unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of the noble institution of the AFL has been commendable.

During his tenure, Johnson had the privilege of witnessing two successful democratically elected governments in Liberia. In 2018 and 2024, expansive democratic transitions took place, showcasing the progress and stability of the nation. As a key figure within the armed forces, Johnson played an instrumental role in maintaining peace and security during these critical periods.

Expressing his gratitude and appreciation, Johnson acknowledged the pivotal role played by the nation’s leaders. He thanked former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President George Weah, and the current President/Commander-In-Chief Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., for their support and guidance throughout his career.

Johnson also took the opportunity to express his deepest appreciation to the Ministry of Defense staff, service personnel, and dependents for their unwavering dedication, loyalty, and the sacrifices they made to ensure the mission’s success. Their collaborative efforts have been instrumental in fostering peace and progress in Liberia.

As Johnson embarks on a new chapter in his life as an honorably retired officer, he leaves a legacy as a true “Force for Good” within the AFL. His commitment to mission-first and his unwavering defense of the nation’s values have undoubtedly left a lasting impact.

The Armed Forces of Liberia and the people of Liberia owe a debt of gratitude to Johnson for his exemplary leadership, dedication, and professionalism throughout his career. His contributions will continue to inspire future generations of service members in their commitment to serving the nation.
