LIBERIA – On Sunday, March 10, 2024, was a Special Day for many Community Women Leaders. They were about 16 (sixteen) of them. They came from Montserrado, Bomi, Gbarpolu, and other Counties.
It was in observance of International Women’s Day – IWD, a day set aside globally to annually recognize and promote the efforts of women. The venue was the New Water in the Desert Assembly in Brewerville, Montserrado County.
The Concerned Christian Community (CCC), organized in western Liberia about 34 years ago decided this year to honor local women leaders who have been effective in their work in their local communities. They came from the church, family and communities.
They are community organizers, women mobilizers, educators, businesswomen, CBO leaders, etc. Many have associated with CCC and/or the communities serve for well over 25 years. They have been steadfast, unwavering and fearless. They have utilized small resources to do things that affected their communities and areas of influence.
We, Congratulate them! We Salute Rev. Miatta R. Sirleaf, Madam Marpha Fully, Miss Bendu Jah, Mother Alfreda Parker, Mrs. Gbelly Nelson, Mrs. Victoria Corneh, Pastor Vashti C. Blamo, Mrs. Thelma K. Miller, Mrs. Roseline F. Kerkula, Mrs. Edith Kamanyan, Mrs. Jenneh Mamey, Mrs. Cecelia Fayiah, Madam Alberta Flomo, Mrs. Ela W. Collins, Mrs. Tupee Davis, Mother Maybel Godfrey, Mother Theresa Kahn, Mrs. Yarmah Weaver, and Mrs. Finda Smith, amongst others. The program was led by veteran women leader and National Board Chairperson of CCC, Rev. Mother Mariama Z. Brown and Acting Executive Director, Mrs. Melissa J. Wilson. . We wish them well in their future endeavors for their families, church and communities.
