PRESIDENT BOAKAI WITHDRAWS NOMINATIONS, NOMINEE STANDS FIRM: “NO APOLOGIES FOR PROSECUTION ROLE”

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Cllr. Bobby Livingstone, one of the individuals whose nominations were recently withdrawn by President Joseph Boakai, has expressed that he feels no need to apologize for his involvement as a prosecutor in the case against Madam Gloria Musu Scott. Bobby Livingstone in a post recently stated that he has no apologies for serving as a prosecutor in the case.

According to Livingstone, the murder of 29-year-old Charlor Musu occurred without evidence of intruders. This statement raises questions about the integrity of the prosecution’s case against Madam Gloria Scott.

President Boakai recently exercised his authority by withdrawing the nominations of Cllr. Bobby Livingstone as Deputy Minister-designate for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Mr. Joseph Cooper as Executive Director-designate of LRRRC, and Adana S. Paye as Assistant Minister for Corrections & Rehabilitation in the Ministry of Justice. This decision signifies a change in the President’s initial choices for these positions.

Upon receiving the President’s communication regarding the withdrawal of the nominations, the Liberian Senate acknowledged and respected his constitutional right to nominate and withdraw officials. Despite the nominees’ participation in confirmation hearings organized by Senate committees, the President’s decision stands. This development showcases President Boakai’s exercise of his prerogatives within the Executive branch.

In response to the withdrawal, Cllr. Livingstone expressed his gratitude to President Boakai for initially nominating him. However, he made it clear that he stands by his actions as a prosecutor and feels no apology is necessary for his role in the prosecution of the case involving Madam Gloria Scott.
