TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENT IN MONROVIA: INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an investigation into a fatal road traffic accident involving a motorcyclist and his passenger at Fish Market along Tubman Boulevard in Monrovia. The incident occurred on May 15, 2024, at 9:48 PM.

According to a police press release issued on May 16 by Spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke, the driver of a truck owned by the Liberia National Fire Service is currently under investigation. The truck was being driven by Zota Robert, 49, who stated he was responding to a fire incident call in Caldwell when the collision occurred. Robert reported that the motorbike was overtaking in the opposite direction at the time of the crash.

The victims have been identified as Foday Fofana, 35, a resident of the Old Road community, and Ann Marie Sesay, 45, from the Freeport Community. Both were nationals of Sierra Leone, and their identities have been confirmed by their families in Monrovia.

The deceased, who practiced the Muslim faith, have been requested by their families for interment according to Muslim rituals. Zota Robert, the driver involved in the accident, is currently detained at the LNP Headquarters as the investigation continues.

The Liberia National Police has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and assures the public that a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Fire Service issued an official statement on Friday, May 17, 2024, regarding a tragic accident involving one of its fire service trucks that resulted in the loss of two lives.
