MARYLAND CO., LIBERIA – A devastating fire has ravaged the home and shop of Mr. Ibraham Jalloh, a prominent businessman in the Pleebo Zone 3 community. The incident occurred at 2 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Mr. Jalloh and his family were asleep when they were suddenly awakened by intense heat and smoke engulfing their residence. By the time they realized what was happening, the fire had already consumed both the house and the shop, leaving the family with no option but to escape with their lives.

“Everything was on fire when we woke up. We barely escaped with our lives,” Mr. Jalloh told reporters in the aftermath of the incident. “All the goods in my shop, all the materials in my house, including all my business money, were completely destroyed.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the impact on Mr. Jalloh’s livelihood has been catastrophic. He emphasized the total loss of his business assets and personal belongings, highlighting the urgent need for assistance.

In light of this tragedy, Mr. Jalloh is pleading for support from humanitarian organizations and the government of Liberia. “I am asking for help from anyone who can assist. We have lost everything,” he implored.

The local community has expressed shock and sympathy for Mr. Jalloh and his family, and efforts are being made to organize aid for the affected family. The fire has raised concerns about fire safety measures in the area, prompting calls for improved emergency response and preventive measures.
