ACCRA, GHANA – Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, Director-General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), is currently in Accra, Ghana, attending a high-level conference focused on strengthening public health capacities and regional collaboration for health emergency preparedness and response to biothreats.
Speaking to Smart News Liberia on Friday, February 7, 2025, Dr. Nyan expressed his commitment to representing Liberia at the forum, emphasizing the importance of linking NPHIL with other public health institutions to tackle regional and global health challenges.
The conference brings together health experts, policymakers, and researchers to discuss strategies for preventing and responding to emerging disease outbreaks. Dr. Nyan highlighted Liberia’s efforts in disease prevention and multi-prone outbreak response, stressing the need for enhanced cooperation to combat threats such as Mpox, Lassa fever, and measles.
His participation highlights NPHIL’s role in strengthening Liberia’s health system and improving its capacity to respond to public health emergencies.
