GSA DIRECTOR GENERAL MEETS IMF DELEGATION TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC ASSET MANAGEMENT

Date:

MONROVIA – The Director General of the General Services Agency (GSA), Galakpai W. Kortimai, on February 26, 2025, held high-level discussions with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to address the agency’s operational framework, ongoing challenges, and its pivotal role in protecting government assets.

During the meeting, Kortimai highlighted the GSA’s progress in asset management, procurement processes, and the maintenance of public properties. He pointed to key challenges hindering the agency’s work, including limited resources and outdated infrastructure. He stressed that addressing these issues is essential to improving operational efficiency and ensuring better stewardship of government assets.

The discussions also centered on the GSA’s role in promoting transparency and accountability across government agencies. Hon. Kortimai emphasized that effective asset management is crucial for public trust and sustainable governance. He further outlined the agency’s commitment to integrating climate-conscious policies into its operations. These efforts, he explained, include adopting energy-efficient practices for government buildings and implementing eco-friendly procurement standards to align with global climate change initiatives.

The IMF delegation acknowledged the GSA’s significant role in safeguarding government assets and recognized the challenges it faces. They expressed appreciation for the agency’s efforts and assured their continued support for the Government of Liberia’s asset management and transparency initiatives.

Kortimai was joined at the meeting by senior GSA officials, including Hon. Johnson P. Sloan, Deputy Director General for Administration; Mr. Fransco Dutor, Fleet Director; and Mr. William K. Kokulo, Special Assistant to the Director General.
