U.S.-BASED LIBERIAN GROUP VETERAN AHBLAWOE DONATES RICE AND ASSORTED ITEMS TO SEVERAL CARE-GIVING INSTITUTIONS

Date:

PAYNESVILLE – Veteran Ahblawoe Sports Association, a U.S.-based Liberian-owned old-timers club, has donated 75 bags of 25kg bags of rice and several assorted items to three care-giving institutions including the Antoinette Tubman Cheshire Home, Christian Association of the Blind (CAB), and the JoJo Hope House of Substance Freedom, a rehabilitation center for disadvantaged youth.

The donations were made today, by a visiting delegation of the old-timers association headed by its President Abu Massally, alias Puchie Van Duchie, who was accompanied by several officials and members of Veteran Ahblawoe, including donation committee chair, Buster Mondeth, Secretary General, Edwin Y. Weedor, Madam Rachel Agnes Nebo, Peter Zekiel, Olando Jones, and three former presidents of the group; Ivan Brown, George Harris, and Jeff Doe.

Items donated include 25kg bags of rice, six boxes containing four gallons each of vegetable cooking oil, six boxes of vita, six bags of sugar, an assortment of toiletries including six bags of tissues, six boxes of laundry soap, and 40 pieces of sanitary pads, among others.

Veteran Ahblawoe’s President Massally described the donations as his organization’s way of giving back to their fellow Liberians who are in need.

“This is our way of giving back to our people; to help our government and to help our people in need,” Massally stated.

He asserted that he and members of Veteran Ahblawoe are motivated to fight destitution out of the Liberian society, indicating that “when you see destitution, it motivates you to do more.”

He added, “When you see your people not having enough to eat, not having enough to live, and everybody is depending on government, it motivates me to want to come to my people’s aid.”

He maintained that the motivation of he and members of the Minnesota-based Veteran Ahblawoe is to wake up every morning to attend to the Liberians that are in need back home.
