NEC OPENS CAMPAIGN PERIOD FOR NIMBA SENATORIAL BY-ELECTION

Date:

TAPPITA, NIMBA COUNTY – The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially declared the commencement of the political campaign period for the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial By-election. As of today, March 31, 2025, candidates and political parties can begin their campaign activities ahead of the polls scheduled for April 22, 2025.

NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne Lansanah made the announcement during a visit to Tappita, Nimba County, where she led a delegation from the Commission. She reaffirmed NEC’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent electoral process and called on all candidates and political parties to adhere strictly to the campaign guidelines.

“All preparations leading to the conduct of the election are progressing according to plan,” Browne Lansanah stated. She assured stakeholders that NEC remains fully prepared to oversee a credible and orderly by-election.

The Nimba County Senatorial By-election was necessitated by a vacancy in the Liberian Senate, prompting the electoral body to organize this special poll. Several candidates from various political parties, along with independent aspirants, have thrown their hats into the ring, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest in the coming weeks.

In an official media advisory, NEC Communications Director Prince Dunbar urged citizens to rely on the Commission as the primary source for updates regarding the election process. He emphasized the importance of accurate and verified information as the campaign season unfolds.
