MONROVIA – The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has officially informed the National Election Commission (NEC) that it has relocated its temporary headquarters to Saye Town, 3rd Street, Sinkor, following the demolition of its National Headquarters in Congo Town. The announcement was made in a letter dated August 26, 2025, addressed by CDC National Chairman Atty. Janga A. Kowo to NEC Chairperson Madam Davidetta Browne Lansana.
In the letter, Kowo explained that the demolition of the CDC’s headquarters occurred while the party’s appeal for Specific Performance regarding the property purchase was still pending before the Supreme Court of Liberia. He argued that the action violated Article 20 (A & B) of the Liberian Constitution, which protects the right to property and guarantees due process, including the right to appeal.
Kowo expressed concern over the timing of the demolition, which coincided with the NEC’s annual inspection of political party headquarters. “This could be a plot to affect our legal standing as a political party in the Republic of Liberia,” he warned in the letter. He also referenced Chapter 51, § S1.20 of the Civil Procedure Law, which states that no execution shall issue on a judgment while an appeal is pending.
The CDC leader confirmed that the party will operate temporarily from its Electoral District No. 8 office in Saye Town while awaiting the Supreme Court’s final decision on the pending appeals. “In view of the prevailing situation, we are designating our Electoral District No. 8 office located in Saye Town, 3rd Street, Sinkor as the temporary headquarters of the CDC while we await the outcome of adjudication of our appeals at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia,” Kowo wrote.
